Q. Is there any fee for me to set up or host a party?
A. No, hosting is absolutely free. Many hosts like to have refreshments or decorate for the party, particularly if it’s for a special occasion. This is up to you, and any costs for this or invitations, are your responsibility.
Q. What do you need for the Ordering Room?
A. It is really important that we provide a confidential setting for your guests while they are making their purchases. Given the intimate nature of our conversation, a safe space to answer questions is crucial.
It’s great if there is a room available that is separate from the party, such as a spare room or office, even your bedroom. If that’s not possible, using another room, away from the party, such as the dining room or kitchen works too. It’s great to have a writing surface and a place to sit, but it’s not necessary.
Q. Where does the stuff that people order get delivered to?
A. It’s up to your guests. They can either have their products delivered to you, the host, for $5.95 or their stash can be sent directly to them for a $3 additional charge. All orders sent to the host are individually packaged, sealed and clearly labeled with the guest’s name and phone number. If someone is really concerned about confidentiality, I recommend that the items be sent directly to them.
Q. Do I provide food and drink?
A. Usually, the hostess provides some food or drink but what and how much is really up to you. I have done parties where there has been fruit, candy and cookies only, to full brunches or appetizers and drinks. That is really your preference. A party I did recently, the host had everyone bring a dish to share and she provided the drinks.
Q. Do you provide “sex ed” or just demonstrate how to use the toys?
A. Yes! I provide detailed education on many aspects of sex and intimacy as well as information on the use of the lotions, oils and toys. I tailor each presentation based on my host’s preferences and guests questions. I also pass around the products to touch, or in the case of lotions and edibles, to sample.
Q. After my initial contact, what other kind of info do you need from me?
A. We’ll need to pick a date and time for your party. To confirm your date, my one requirement is that you send me a list of your guests and their snail mail addresses. I will set up an Evite for you to forward to your friends, as well as send reminder postcards closer to our party date.
At the point of scheduling, it may be easier for us to chat by phone. I want to make sure that you have all your questions answered and I know that it will be easier to do this by phone rather than by e-mail.
